Transparency in Practice – Registration Fees and Payouts on SDGPT

How Registration Fees and Payouts Work on the Swedish Disc Golf Pro Tour

At the Swedish Disc Golf Pro Tour (SDGPT) and Swedish Disc Golf Amateur Tour (SDGAT), transparency is a core value. This page explains how registration fees are handled, how payouts are calculated, and how value is returned to players across all divisions.

Core Principles

  • A minimum of 75% payout per division is guaranteed in accordance with PDGA regulations. In practice, pro divisions average around 140% payout, while amateur divisions typically exceed 200%, placing the tour well above the required minimum.

  • Clear separation between event costs, tour costs, and player returns

  • All prize money calculations follow PDGA standards and tools

Registration Fees – How They Are Split

From each registration fee:

  • 6% Swedish VAT is deducted

  • 30% is allocated to event and tour operations, split as follows:

    • 10% to the organizing club

    • 10% to season-long tour standings

    • 10% to SDGPT organizing crew

The remaining amount forms the basis for division payout calculations.

Pro Divisions

Added Pro Purse

Every SDGPT event includes an added pro purse, typically between 25,000–50,000 SEK.

  • The purse is distributed proportionally by division size

  • Calculations are handled automatically in PDGA Tournament Manager

Example:
If an added purse is 10,000 SEK and participation is:

  • MPO: 70 players → 7,000 SEK

  • MP40: 15 players → 1,500 SEK

  • FPO: 10 players → 1,000 SEK

  • FP40: 5 players → 500 SEK

Payout Percentages

  • MPO & MP40: Top 25%

  • FPO & FP40: Top 40%

Underserved divisions with fewer than four players will always pay out at least the top three, as we believe podium finishes should be rewarded.

All prize money is calculated using the PDGA Payout Calculator, ensuring consistent rounding and distribution.

Receiving Prize Money

The fastest method is invoicing:

For Swedish players, prize money can alternatively be paid via a non-profit club to avoid employer contributions. Income tax still applies and is declared in annual tax filings.

Amateur Divisions

Player Packs

From 2026 onward, the primary value for amateurs is delivered through player packs, calculated at retail value including VAT.

  • Additional items such as CTP prizes and trophies are included in division value

  • Our goal is to return 150–200% of the registration fee in total value

Prizes

Based on player feedback, SDGPT has adjusted its amateur structure:

  • Player pack value has been slightly reduced

  • Top 25% of each division now receive gift cards for HeatlandDiscgolf.com

  • Trophies are still awarded to top finishers.

Added Amenities and Media Coverage

SDGPT invests heavily in event experience:

  • Free coffee, drinks, snacks, and fruit

  • Professional course presentation with sponsor assets

  • Media coverage and social content via Gatekeeper Media

These costs are not included in player payout calculations and are covered by organizers and sponsors.
